Michelangelo Buonarotti was the great genius who brought to life the David, which he felt already existed within the marble and merely wished to escape from the stone. Discover the Academy Gallery where resides Michelangelo’s David and other famous sculptures. The tour continues with a slow walk to the Medici Chapel where you can admire the Sacristy with all masterpieces made by Michelangelo.

You will discover the places related to the artist’s life, his memory and his artistic career, discovering his main works. Walking through the streets of the Florentine capital means discovering the places where Michelangelo spent the years of his artistic maturation, making him the protagonist of the Renaissance.

You will visit the Accademia Gallery where the magnificent David is preserved, one of the best works by the artist and the unfinished sculpture of San Matteo and the sculptural group of Prigioni or Schiavi by Michelangelo. He thought that the sculptors were instruments of God and that their task was to “free” the figures of the statues, which in reality were already present in the stone.

A second part of the tour consists of visiting the Medici Chapels. Where Michelangelo created the Sagrestia Nova and the Laurenziana Library. These are examples of his artistic versatility because in these cases he made both the architect and the sculptor with an innovative key notable for those times.
